Exploring the Power of Applied Neuroscience in Business and Organization

October 7, 2025 – In today’s dynamic business landscape, understanding human behavior has become as crucial as mastering strategy or innovation. This insight took center stage in Bogor, Indonesia at the CEO Forum for MBA students, hosted by IPB University School of Business, featuring Lyra Puspa, PhD— President & Founder of Vanaya & Co.—in a session titled “Applied Neuroscience in Business and Organization.”

Bridging Brain Science and Business Leadership

The session opened a new perspective on how neuroscience—traditionally confined to laboratories—can be applied in leadership, organizational transformation, and business strategy. Drawing from her doctoral research in neuroscience at Canterbury and her professional background as an IPB alumna, Dr. Puspa shared how brain-based insights can reveal the “why” behind behavior, decision-making, and performance at work. “Understanding the brain allows us to optimize not only individual potential but also organizational systems,” she emphasized. “When we understand how people think, feel, and adapt, we can design business models and leadership practices that truly work with the human brain, not against it.”

A Shared Vision Between Academia and Industry

Moderated by Dr. Nur Hasanah from IPB School of Business, the session reflected a meaningful collaboration between academic excellence and industry innovation. For IPB, it was a platform for postgraduate students to explore how scientific understanding of the brain can enrich leadership and organizational effectiveness. For Vanaya, it was part of a broader mission to make cutting-edge knowledge in neuroscience accessible to the next generation of business leaders. The partnership carries a symbolic resonance: Lyra Puspa, PhD’s return to her alma mater as both a scientist and an entrepreneur exemplifies the spirit of continuous learning and contribution. Her journey—from an IPB graduate to a global thought leader in applied neuroscience—mirrors the aspiration to cultivate leaders who think critically, act ethically, and lead with both mind and heart.

Planting Seeds for Future Collaboration

This engagement marks an early step toward deepening collaboration between Vanaya and IPB University—inspiring future research, learning innovation, and leadership development initiatives at the intersection of neuroscience and business. The discussion sparked enthusiasm among IPB postgraduate students, underscoring a shared belief that leadership of the future will be built not only on strategic thinking or digital acumen, but on a deeper understanding of the human brain—how people think, decide, and grow. Together, Vanaya and IPB University aim to shape a new generation of leaders who can bridge science and business for a more adaptive, humane, and forward-thinking economy.
